REQUIEM FOR THE GILDED AGE: A Soul-Punk Worldbuilding Project
Welcome to the wiki for Requiem For The Gilded Age, a worldbuilding/game project set in a dieselpunk world called Aemissum! I've been working on this project for around 5 years or so now, slowly fleshing out the world, it's stories and characters.

SYNOPSIS:
Six thousand years ago, a great war led to the firing of weapons known as Soul Cannons, weapons powered by the sacrifice of living sapient beings, that led to mutually assured destruction. The world was reshaped, continents shifted, and new sapient species (Chien and Felin) became dominant. Now as the new world, Aemissium, enters it's second Industrial Age, conflict once again seeks to wipe out the world as it is known.

It's been 50 years since the end of a millennia-long conflict that lead to both destruction and innovation. The scars from this old war have long since healed, but the effects of it are still being felt far and wide, with many of it's veterans still living with the trauma they experienced during the war. As of the modern day, Aemissum is currently entering it's Second Industrial Age, a time which has proven to be a golden age due to the many technological, academic, scientific and societal advancements that have been achieved. Many of the monarchies of the old world were reformed as republics, nations are slowly becoming more industrialized and developed; Airships and aeroplanes dominate the skies and massive mechwalkers used for a wide array purposes ranging from warfare to civilian use dominate the ground below.
